My Thesis
Although some believe that funding should be spent in more “efficient” ways, the United States needs to work towards destigmatizing mental health illnesses by increasing public awareness, implementing more programs and increasing funding, and offering equal opportunity within society.
Increasing Public Awareness
The First Aspect to my Plan of Action
In order to destigmatize mental illnesses within society, one of the first steps that must be taken is to eliminate the false and often hurtful beliefs that exist by means of educating society.

Implementing More Programs and Increasing Funding
The Second Aspect to my Plan of Action
Because education is one of the most effective ways to decrease a stigma, implementing more programs by increasing mental health funding would prove extremely useful to society.
Offering Equal Opportunity
The Third Aspect to my Plan of Action
Because of the stigma that exists within society, those with mental illnesses are often discriminated against in the workplace. If equal opportunity was offered in places of business and school systems, the stigma would decrease as those affected become more accepted within society.
